Books
I love books. Harry and I have 6 bookshelves in our home and we desperately need more for the books that are stacked in closets and upstairs in the attic. We’re hopelessly addicted to books. It’s something I learned from watching my dad and I’m pretty sure Harry was influenced by his parents as well. I think I’d rather eat an uncooked scallop than throw away a book. Here are a few of my books:
- Books I’m reading now…
- Literary Nashville, Patrick Allen
- Mrs. Dalloway, Virginia Woolf
- When You Are Engulfed in Flames, David Sedaris
- Books I recently read…
- When Sinners Say I Do, Dave Harvey
- Infidel, Ayaan Hirsi Ali
- Real Love for Real Life: the Art and Work of Caring, Andi Ashworth
- Water for Elephants, by Sara Gruen
- Each for the Other, by Brian Chappell
- Reading Lolita in Tehran, by Azar Nafisi
- Books I want to read…
- The Courage to Teach, Parker J. Palmer
- About a Boy, by Nick Hornby
- Future Grace, by John Piper
- Fair and Tender Ladies, by Lee Smith
- Books I want to read AGAIN…
- The Namesake, by Jhumpa Lahiri
- Mere Christianity, by C.S. Lewis
- These Strange Ashes, by Elisabeth Eliot
- I Capture the Castle, by Dodie Smith
- Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen
- Idols of the Heart, by Elyse Fitzpatrick
- Books I like to teach:
- The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald
- The Crucible, by Arthur Miller
- The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne
- High Fidelity, by Nick Hornby
Hey, Andrea–I’ve read that Andi Ashworth book, too. Have you finished reading it? Did you like it? I thought it was really great, full of important ideas.
I haven’t finished reading it, but I have liked it. Although, it isn’t exactly what I expected…but now, I’m not sure what I expected.
I need to finish it so that I can decide if I agree with her.
